This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.

📋 Description

• Oversee timberland assets in New Hampshire and Maine, with a primary emphasis on managing northern hardwood forests.

• Cultivate service-oriented relationships with MIMT and MIMFM staff while fulfilling client fiduciary responsibilities.

• Adhere to stewardship policies and practices concerning water quality, soil health, invasive species, and compliance with SFI/FSC certifications.

• Foster and enhance relationships with contractors, timber market representatives, recreational groups, conservation organizations, communities, Indigenous communities, elected officials, neighboring landowners, and government authorities.

• Drive stakeholder engagement and community outreach initiatives.

• Assist in budgeting and planning for forest management operations.

• Represent MIMFM in public forums, industry events, peer discussions, associations, and with regulatory bodies.

• Lead and supervise field employees and consulting teams.

• Ensure safety protocols are followed for staff, contractors, and property assets.

• Manage timber harvesting activities, including planning, layout, contract management, timber security, quality inspections, and reporting.

• Market timber products and oversee delivery logistics, harvest volumes, specifications, and market opportunities.

• Prescribe, schedule, and execute silvicultural practices.

• Plan and manage road construction and maintenance.

• Ensure compliance with conservation easements, annual operating plans, monitoring meetings, and recreational trail agreements.

• Address trespassing, encroachments, illegal activities, and environmental concerns.

• Supervise consultant field operations.

• Identify eligible non-timber income opportunities.

• Lead communications related to stakeholder engagement, community relations, public affairs, media inquiries, and forest management initiatives.

• Report on operational status, market conditions, stewardship activities, risks, safety, budgets, and property highlights.

• Participate in acquisitions, land sales, special projects, and corporate strategies.

• Organize and conduct property tours for clients, stakeholders, and MFM colleagues.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in forestry or equivalent professional experience.

• At least five years of relevant career experience.

• Experience in organizational and team supervision is desirable.

• Expertise in managing Northern Hardwood, Spruce, Fir, and mixed cover type forests.

• Familiarity with management costs, return expectations, discounted cash flow analysis, harvest administration, and timber marketing.

• Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured under the company's commercial insurance.

• Maintain Licensed Forester status in the State of New Hampshire.

• Strong computer and analytical capabilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office365.

• GIS skills are required.

• Knowledge of, or the ability to learn and apply, essential financial concepts to business decisions.

• Service-oriented mindset with a fiduciary approach.

• Capability to develop and sustain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.

• Proficiency in facilitating productive discussions, managing sensitive topics, and conveying complex forest management objectives to various audiences.

• Extensive experience in community engagement, public outreach, stakeholder relations, and collaborative problem-solving.
