This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.
• Oversee timberland assets in New Hampshire and Maine, with a primary emphasis on managing northern hardwood forests.
• Cultivate service-oriented relationships with MIMT and MIMFM personnel while meeting client fiduciary responsibilities.
• Adhere to stewardship policies and practices regarding water quality, soil health, invasive species, and compliance with SFI/FSC certifications.
• Foster relationships with contractors, timber market representatives, recreational groups, conservation organizations, local communities, Indigenous communities, elected officials, adjacent landowners, and government officials.
• Spearhead stakeholder engagement and community outreach initiatives within the management area.
• Assist in budgeting and planning for forest management activities.
• Represent MIMFM in interactions with the public, industry peers, associations, and regulatory bodies.
• Lead and supervise regional employees and consulting personnel.
• Ensure safety protocols for personnel, contractors, and property assets are upheld.
• Direct timber harvesting operations, encompassing planning, harvest layout, contract management, timber security, inspections, and reporting.
• Market timber products and coordinate delivery logistics; investigate new markets and specifications.
• Manage harvest volumes and silvicultural prescriptions in alignment with conservation easement and carbon project compliance.
• Prescribe, schedule, and execute silvicultural practices.
• Plan and supervise road construction and maintenance while maintaining relationships with Township and County Road Commissioners.
• Ensure compliance with conservation easements, annual operating plans, monitoring sessions, stakeholder meetings, and recreational trail use agreements.
• Address issues related to trespassing, encroachments, illegal activities, and environmental concerns.
• Supervise consultant field activities.
• Pursue eligible non-timber income opportunities.
• Lead communications regarding stakeholder engagement, community relations, public affairs, media inquiries, and forest management.
• Report on operational status, markets, stewardship activities, and risks through weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Engage in special projects, acquisitions, and land sales.
• Organize and lead property tours for clients, stakeholders, and MFM peers.
• A bachelor’s degree in forestry or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of five years of professional experience, with a preference for organizational and team supervision experience.
• Expertise in managing Northern Hardwood, Spruce, Fir, and mixed cover type forests.
• Familiarity with management costs and return expectations, discounted cash flow analysis, harvest administration, and timber marketing.
• A valid driver's license and eligibility for insurability with the company’s commercial carrier.
• Maintain Licensed Forester status in the State of New Hampshire.
• Strong computer and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 and GIS software.
• Knowledge of, or capability to learn and implement, essential financial concepts in business decision-making.
• Service-oriented approach from a fiduciary standpoint.
• Ability to establish and nurture effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, facilitate productive discussions, manage sensitive issues, and convey complex forest management objectives to varied audiences.
• Significant experience in community engagement, public outreach, stakeholder relations, and collaborative problem-solving.
