Applications Engineer – JavaScript, AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Enhance and support public-facing applications for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Technical Operations Center.

• Improve functionality of applications and presentation of data.

• Diagnose issues and find efficient methods for information flow within the environment.

• Utilize JavaScript to develop and enhance existing applications.

• Leverage AWS technologies to support and automate cloud-based data workflows.

• Test and refine current solutions.

• Create efficient and scalable code as requirements evolve.

• Collaborate in a technical environment to develop maintainable solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ability to receive and maintain a favorable adjudicated Public Trust investigation (US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident for a minimum of 3 years).

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 2 years of relevant experience in software or applications engineering.

• Proficient in JavaScript.

• Capability to understand, troubleshoot, and enhance existing code.

• Practical experience with the AWS SDK and AWS CLI.

• Familiarity with AWS Lambda, S3, and EC2.

• Understanding of software engineering principles, including version control, debugging, testing, algorithms, and data structures.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience with Python is a plus.

• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, React, Angular, or other modern front-end technologies is desirable.

• Back-end development experience using Node.js or similar technologies is advantageous.

• Understanding of RESTful API design and integration is beneficial.

• Additional experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments is a plus.

• Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, or related Esri technologies is preferred.
