Application Engineer – Nonwovens

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Act as the main technical liaison for Nonwovens clients in the areas of polyiso insulation, roofing, gypsum, and related building envelope applications.

• Cultivate a thorough understanding of customer manufacturing processes, product specifications, and performance expectations.

• Assist in product qualifications, trials, and commercialization efforts.

• Discover opportunities to enhance product performance, manufacturing efficiency, and customer value.

• Collect and relay customer needs, industry trends, and competitive insights to internal teams.

• Collaborate with commercial teams to formulate product and market strategies.

• Work together with Operations and R&D to develop and implement product trials and technological advancements.

• Identify shared customer needs and emerging industry trends to inform future product development.

• Lead and contribute to cross-functional teams aimed at improving product offerings and customer support.

• Establish relationships across Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and Commercial departments.

• Document and disseminate customer insights throughout the organization.

• Aid Key Account Managers in devising growth strategies for targeted market segments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Over 7 years of experience in building materials, insulation, polyiso, roofing, gypsum, composites, or similar industries.

• Proven experience in customer-facing technical roles and cross-functional project leadership.

• Experience in leading product qualifications, plant trials, and customer-driven development projects.

• Direct experience with polyiso insulation board manufacturing processes, product development, or technical support is preferred.

• Familiarity with roofing systems, gypsum products, coated materials, facers, laminates, or other building envelope applications is preferred.

• Knowledge of coatings, adhesives, nonwoven substrates, and process optimization is preferred.

• Understanding of building codes, insulation standards, and roofing industry requirements is preferred.

• Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.

• Working knowledge of polyiso insulation manufacturing, roofing systems, and building envelope technologies.

• Capacity to translate customer requirements into actionable product and process recommendations.

• Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities.

• Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with customers and internal stakeholders at all levels.

• Strategic thinker with a results-oriented attitude.

• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
