Technical Application Engineer – Grid Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to both internal and external clients regarding the comprehensive Grid Automation portfolio, emphasizing Digital Control Systems, cybersecurity, patch management, and IED asset management.

• Deliver customer support through phone communication and in-person interactions.

• Act as a representative for GE Vernova, serving as a technology and business partner.

• Analyze and resolve customer inquiries independently using engineering techniques.

• Assist the Commercial and Sales teams with technical solutions, product presentations, technical negotiations, and formal proposals.

• Assume technical responsibility for assigned tenders, overseeing everything from solution architecture to compliance verification.

• Manage competitive and requirements-compliant bids throughout the entire bidding lifecycle.

• Participate in trade fairs, seminars, and conferences as necessary.

• Coordinate and oversee commercial and technical Grid Automation activities within the designated region.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, power engineering, automation engineering, or a similar technical discipline—or alternatively, advanced training as a state-certified technician or master craftsperson in electrical engineering or a related field.

• Extensive knowledge of power system protection and/or Substation Control Systems for transmission and distribution networks.

• Advanced understanding of cybersecurity and software environments, including DCS, SCADA, and remote access technologies.

• Practical knowledge of power system protection, substation automation, and remote terminal units (RTUs) to assist clients in selecting and implementing appropriate solutions.

• Proficient in both written and spoken German and English.

• Readiness to travel domestically and internationally.

• Familiarity with network protocols, HMI systems, and relevant software packages.

• Ideally, experience with IEC 61850-based substation automation solutions.
