Senior Application Engineer – FIS Systematics, ALS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the current and future integrations of the ALS module with various product technologies.

• Define application design and delivery utilizing a Service Oriented Architecture framework.

• Drive system requirements, specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters using best practices in systems engineering.

• Oversee development workstreams for compliant platforms.

• Conduct systems analysis, design, development, integration, enhancement, deployment, and application support.

• Lead the deployment of new modules, upgrades, and fixes.

• Define, develop, or modify software application modules or enterprise-wide software systems.

• Implement integration plans and coordinate with testing teams for integration testing.

• Prepare and present functional design specifications and project process flows.

• Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement technology that aligns with business needs.

• Plan the construction and integration of new systems across the IT ecosystem.

• Install, maintain, and configure infrastructure applications and systems.

• Create and manage technical specifications throughout the solution lifecycle.

• Review solutions for alignment with customer objectives, organizational guidelines, benchmarks, and industry best practices.

• Establish structures, processes, and governance for knowledge management and sharing.

• Create operational artifacts, runbooks, and service-level agreement documents for Cloud Data Platform services and products.

• Provide advice on specialized or unique engineering requirements.

• Participate in the creation of complete systems involving clients, servers, networks, and databases.

• Offer technical direction, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to fellow engineers.

• Identify design, quality, or operational issues and initiate corrective actions.

• Maintain expertise in the interconnection and interfacing of network and computer hardware/software.

• Identify opportunities to reduce risk and enhance performance and functionality.

• Drive system testing, including evaluation, verification, and validation.

• Provide technical expertise on current and emerging technologies, trends, and practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in application or software development engineering, ideally at the enterprise level within a large financial services organization.

• Extensive experience with the Advanced Lending System (ALS) within the FIS framework.

• Significant experience with private, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructures, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud.

• Substantial experience with big data technologies, such as Hadoop or Spark.

• Considerable experience with Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum, JIRA, peer review, Git, and CI/CD.

• Significant experience with Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux server operating systems.

• Proficient experience with modern network-enabled relational databases.

• Advanced knowledge of Unix and Linux systems.

• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP and HTTP, along with standard network architectures.

• Comprehensive knowledge of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.

• Advanced understanding of continuous integration and deployment toolchains, including Git, Jenkins, Maven, RunDeck, Terraform, or Ansible.

• Extensive knowledge of engineering principles, practices, theories, and methods for resolving complex problems.

• Advanced understanding of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis, flowdown, specification derivation, and interface control documentation.

• Profound knowledge of end-to-end IT processes, encompassing architecture, design and engineering, implementation, and operations.

• Significant experience in developing scripts or applications to automate systems implementation, configuration, or management.

• Advanced knowledge of project lifecycles and management methodologies.

• Extensive experience in cloud migration and engineering cloud-centric environments.

• Significant experience leading systems analysis, design, and architectural initiatives.

• Considerable experience with service-oriented and enterprise service system architectures.

• Demonstrated ability to address complex system/integration challenges with innovative solutions.

• Advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.

• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, critical-thinking, team-building, and presentation skills.

• Advanced skills in applying innovative approaches to technical design challenges.

• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

• A Master's degree, experience with mainframe/FIS Systematics/cloud, COBOL, CICS, Easytrieve, Assembler, Rexx, JCL, ESP Scheduler, FIS Systematics-to-cloud migration, and knowledge of the banking industry are preferred qualifications.
