Technical Application Engineer – Grid Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to customers on the comprehensive Grid Automation portfolio, with a focus on Digital Control Systems, cybersecurity, patch management, and IED asset management.

• Act as a representative of GE Vernova to clients, establishing partnerships in technology and business.

• Analyze and address customer inquiries independently.

• Assist the Commercial and Sales teams by delivering technical solutions, product presentations, technical negotiations, and formal proposals.

• Take technical charge of assigned tenders, overseeing everything from solution architecture to compliance verification.

• Lead the development of competitive and compliant proposals throughout the bidding process.

• Attend trade shows, seminars, and conferences as necessary.

• Provide technical support on Grid Automation topics to commercial teams in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, power engineering, automation engineering, or a similar technical field; alternatively, completed vocational advanced training as an electrical engineering technician or master craftsperson, or in a related technical area.

• Strong understanding of power system protection and/or Substation Control Systems within transmission and distribution networks.

• Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity and software environments (DCS / SCADA / remote access).

• Practical knowledge of power system protection, substation automation, and telecontrol technology (RTUs) to assist customers in selecting and implementing appropriate solutions.

• Excellent written and spoken proficiency in both German and English.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

• Preferred experience with IEC 61850-based substation automation solutions.

• Familiarity with network protocols, HMI systems, and relevant software applications.
