Application Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design system and application solutions, encompassing motion architecture, system topology, and software design.

• Develop customized application software and oversee the entire project lifecycle from prototype to commissioning.

• Configure and commission drives, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), inverters, and servo systems.

• Create PLC/HMI programs.

• Provide support for testing, startup, and field validation of automation solutions.

• Capture and standardize application knowledge into reusable tools and best practices.

• Collaborate with Sales to create solution concepts that meet customer requirements.

• Offer technical support during pre-sales initiatives, such as customer meetings, workshops, and presentations.

• Assist in drafting proposals and identifying opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.

• Cultivate customer relationships and contribute to sales growth objectives.

• Deliver advanced technical support to customers and internal teams, both remotely and onsite.

• Assess and select products and solutions based on application needs.

• Aid in commissioning and troubleshooting during system startup.

• Conduct product demonstrations and provide technical training.

• Create training materials, application documentation, and technical guides.

• Support ongoing technical development within the Sales organization.

• Travel throughout the region for customer support, sales activities, and training.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Proficient in IEC 61131-3 programming languages (Ladder, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram).

• Experience with motion control systems, PLC programming, HMI programming, and industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, CAN, Ethernet-IP, RS232/485).

• Strong background in mechatronics, integrating mechanical, electrical, and software systems.

• Skilled in machine commissioning and developing application/machine specifications.

• Familiarity with wiring diagrams and troubleshooting customer wiring issues.

• Preferred experience with Visual Basic and Windows-based software installation and configuration.

• Knowledge of machine safety standards and project management practices.

• Solid understanding of Windows OS and Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, MS Project).

• Willingness to travel up to 25%, including overnight travel within the region.
