This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take charge of the design and execution of high-scale backend systems and APIs that drive DistroKid’s primary platform.
• Architect and enhance distributed systems on AWS to ensure high throughput, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate across backend, infrastructure, and DevOps, from API design to deployment and system operations.
• Design and integrate enterprise-level systems and external platforms to support high-scale workflows.
• Lead technical design decisions regarding data models, service boundaries, scaling strategies, and failure management.
• Write production-level code while actively participating in building and enhancing systems.
• Enhance system observability, reliability, and performance at scale.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to convert business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Work on high-volume data ingestion, global distribution, and complex financial processes.
• Shape scalable architecture and manage systems that impact millions of creators globally.
• Over 10 years of experience in building and scaling backend systems in production settings.
• Strong, recent hands-on coding skills.
• Extensive experience with AWS, encompassing compute, storage, networking, and scaling.
• Proven experience in designing and managing high-scale distributed systems.
• Significant expertise in API design and system architecture in complex environments.
• Experience with both infrastructure and application layers, including DevOps, deployment, and reliability.
• Familiarity with enterprise integration platforms like AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, or similar, or experience in creating and managing large-scale integration layers.
• Capability to oversee systems from architecture to implementation and production operation.
• Proficiency in navigating ambiguity and making essential technical decisions.
• Professional software engineering experience, excluding internships.
• Must not require a visa, work permit, or extension sponsorship in any country.
