This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design, develop, and maintain Android features for Snappy Shopper, Order Manager, and Snappy Picker.
• Collaborate with Android developers and various stakeholders to transform business needs into technical strategies and deliverables.
• Make informed technical decisions with consideration for architecture, reliability, maintainability, and the broader impact of implementation.
• Take responsibility for the quality and completeness of solutions prior to review.
• Review the code of other developers and engage in technical discussions.
• Diagnose issues in Kotlin and legacy Java code.
• Address complex production challenges.
• Balance immediate resolutions with long-term enhancements.
• Engage in practical technical sessions and live coding exercises during the recruitment process.
• Extensive experience with modern Kotlin.
• Production experience utilizing Jetpack Compose.
• Strong proficiency in Coroutines and Flow.
• Familiarity with Hilt, Dagger 2, or Koin, along with an understanding of dependency scoping.
• Experience with multi-module Clean Architecture.
• Ability to enforce architecture and code quality standards using tools and CI.
• Strong habit of unit testing with JUnit and MockK/Mockito.
• Experience in collaborative development, version control, and code review processes.
• Background working in an Agile/Scrum setting.
• Experience in reviewing Kotlin code and participating in pull request discussions.
• Familiarity with Android applications targeting minSdk 24–26 and targetSdk 35–36.
• At least one of the following: RxJava2 with effective disposal practices; hardware integration using a vendor SDK, AIDL service, Bluetooth device, or partner-app Intent; real-time functionality using WebSockets with fallback and dead-connection handling; custom Dagger scopes or subcomponents with explicit teardown.
• Familiarity with XML/ViewBinding, Room, Crashlytics, payment SDKs, Firebase Remote Config, WorkManager, Bluetooth printing, or similar technologies is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Ability to collaborate, share knowledge, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
