Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the enterprise analytics and reporting function at FiscalNote.

• Develop models, pipelines, and dashboards that facilitate decision-making across the company.

• Direct a small, impactful Business Intelligence team.

• Collaborate closely with senior leadership as well as product, engineering, sales, finance, and customer success teams.

• Define KPIs and extract actionable insights.

• Provide analytics that enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and boost financial performance.

• Construct and maintain dbt models with SQL and Jinja for finance, product, sales, and customer success data operations.

• Strengthen analytics models through testing, freshness checks, and constraints.

• Generate reports and dashboards in Metabase utilizing the visual query builder.

• Perform ad-hoc analysis to address business inquiries.

• Work alongside stakeholders to comprehend business domains and craft analytics solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years in analytics engineering, data analysis, or a similar technical position.

• Exceptional data modeling skills with a focus on simplicity and modularity.

• Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex joins, window functions, and CTEs.

• Experience in at least one dbt project in a production environment.

• Strong skills in dimensional, relational, or semantic data modeling.

• Understanding of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data formats.

• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Metabase, Looker, and Tableau.

• Capability to explore and analyze intricate datasets.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce thorough, high-quality documentation.

• Basic statistical analysis skills to detect trends and outliers.

• Knowledge of Git-based development, including pull requests, code review, and CI/CD.

• Experience with Snowflake and SnowSQL is preferred.

• Experience with Metabase is preferred.

• Proficiency in Python is preferred.

• Experience in data munging and analysis using Pandas/Polars and Jupyter Notebooks is preferred.
