AI Engineer – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and execute maintainable, well-tested backend services and full-stack applications, emphasizing Clean Code, TDD, and robust architecture.

• Create business-specific AI applications such as RAG systems, assistants, and generative text processing utilizing existing Large Language Models with modern AI tools.

• Seamlessly integrate existing AI models and services into current systems and workflows.

• Develop data integration solutions for continuous and automated data flows, including data preparation and processing for AI applications.

• Design, document, and deploy clean APIs to facilitate communication between AI and other software components.

• Create automated tests and establish CI/CD pipelines.

• Continuously assess and enhance software components and RAG pipelines.

• Contribute to optimizing business processes and achieving the company's strategic goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in professional software development, preferably in a senior capacity.

• Advanced skills in Python for backend development, data engineering, and prototyping, or a comparable language.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or C# is an advantage.

• Hands-on experience with Clean Code, Test-Driven Development, automated testing, and conducting code reviews.

• Strong understanding of RAG pipelines and vector databases.

• Practical experience in developing applications based on LLMs.

• Solid backend development skills complemented by fundamental frontend knowledge, such as TypeScript/React.

• Capability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and focus on delivering tangible value.

• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with diverse teams.

• Proficiency in German at a minimum of C1 level, both spoken and written.

• Residency in Germany, Austria, or Spain.

• Familiarity with AI tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, or experience in agentic development is preferred.

• Experience in planning and executing development projects is desirable.

• Strong skills in producing clear and precise technical documentation are advantageous.

• Openness to developing creative ideas and experimenting with new methodologies is a plus.
