This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Execute usability assessments, structured interviews, and contextual observations.
• Collaborate with Product and UX Research teams to design studies, synthesize insights, and translate findings into design strategies.
• Analyze product analytics, usability results, and outcomes from A/B tests.
• Detect usability and engagement gaps through prototype evaluations and user feedback.
• Manage the complete product design process from user flows and initial concepts to wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and specifications for developers.
• Create AI-driven experiences, including conversational interfaces, adaptive learning systems, generative content surfaces, and intelligent recommendation functionalities.
• Design for various states, edge cases, error conditions, and empty states.
• Deliver responsive designs for both web and mobile platforms.
• Utilize AI tools to expedite design iterations.
• Define and uphold interaction patterns, UX standards, and shared components of the design system.
• Ensure that designs comply with WCAG 2.2 standards.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Data Analytics to influence product direction and prioritize the roadmap.
• Present research findings and design decisions to technical, product, leadership, and business stakeholders.
• Balance user needs, business objectives, and delivery constraints.
• Advocate for underserved users, including students with disabilities, English language learners, and those in under-resourced environments.
• Mentor fellow designers and participate in critiques, workshops, documentation, and process enhancements.
• Over 7 years of experience in UX design or a closely related field.
• A portfolio showcasing end-to-end ownership of complex, deployed products and measurable user outcome impacts.
• Proven experience in conducting usability tests and mixed-method research, including interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability studies.
• Experience in designing AI-driven product features, such as conversational interfaces, adaptive systems, generative content surfaces, or machine learning-driven recommendations.
• Familiarity with Agile or Lean UX methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency in Figma for design and prototyping purposes.
• Knowledge of research and testing tools like UserTesting or similar platforms.
• Comfort with AI tools and their application in design workflows and AI-powered product experiences.
• Strong data fluency, including experience with product analytics platforms and A/B test analysis.
• Proficient in information architecture, user journey mapping, and interaction design for web and mobile platforms.
• Solid foundation in visual design principles, encompassing typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
• Comprehensive understanding of WCAG 2.2, Section 508, and inclusive design practices.
• Experience in contributing to or managing a shared design system.
• Outstanding communication and storytelling abilities.
• Capability to navigate competing priorities, align cross-functional partners, and influence roadmap decisions.
• A Bachelor’s degree in HCI, interaction design, cognitive science, or a related field is preferred, though candidates from all educational backgrounds, including bootcamp graduates and self-taught designers, are encouraged to apply.
