Advanced Mech Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Taiwan.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical expertise and support for Materials and Processes related to Honeywell Aerospace products.

• Collaborate as part of a cohesive Materials Engineering team.

• Work in conjunction with Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to develop solutions and systems that adapt to changing customer requirements.

• Engage in all stages of product development.

• Act as a technical resource for less experienced engineering personnel.

• Provide support for both new and existing aerospace gas turbine engine products utilized for propulsion and auxiliary power.

• Emphasize metallurgy and metallurgical processes, including casting, forging, heat treatment, and welding.

• Assist in the materials and processes involved in the design and manufacturing of metallic components.

• Collaborate with suppliers in Taiwan and the APAC region.

• Function as a liaison between regional suppliers and Honeywell Aerospace.

• Expect to travel approximately 25% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in materials/process engineering.

• At least 4 years of experience working with aerospace materials such as aluminum, steel, titanium, and nickel.

• Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

• Proficient understanding and hands-on experience in casting, forging, heat treatment, welding, or other metallurgical manufacturing processes.

• Knowledge of industrial materials and processing specifications.

• Familiarity with Nadcap and industry standards, requirements, and approvals.

• Capability to assess new suppliers and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.

• Experience conducting supplier audits.

• Proven track record in developing and working with suppliers.

• Experience in troubleshooting material and process challenges and delivering technical solutions for swift problem resolution.

• Proven experience liaising between suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineers (SDE), and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).

• Experience collaborating with Design Engineering teams.

• Understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.

• Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean, and other process improvement methodologies.

• Experience with simulation tools like DEFORM, ProCast, and Thermocalc.

• May occasionally be required to lift up to 35 pounds in a single action.
