This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Conduct intricate actuarial computations to evaluate compliance of property and casualty rate filings with state insurance regulations.

• Assess if rate filings are excessive, insufficient, or discriminatory.

• Recommend outcomes for filings to the Bureau Chief and/or Senior Management.

• Oversee one Senior Actuarial Analyst and one Actuarial Analyst, reviewing their work outputs.

• Monitor the performance of direct reports and ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures.

• Compile, analyze, and interpret data and statistics mandated by law for assigned filings and actuarial reports.

• Provide advice on legislative matters, evaluate proposed legislation, assess impacts, and suggest revisions to statutes or administrative rules.

• Direct, conduct, and manage insurance or data-related studies and projects.

• Address inquiries from the Insurance Commissioner, Legislature, media, public records requesters, consumers, government agencies, NAIC, and professional organizations.

• Support management in achieving strategic objectives and goals.

• Consult on actuarial issues across the Office and act as a business expert in industry operations.

• Aid in the development of model position papers that are backed by actuarial analysis.

• Participate in the DFS Disaster Response Team, which includes duties related to disaster relief at short notice and associated travel.

• Carry out other related responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society, or an enrolled actuary per Florida Statute 624.307(6).

• Must maintain good standing with the Casualty Actuarial Society and possess either ACAS or FCAS designation.

• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Residential Property/Homeowners.

• Preference will also be given to candidates with over five years of professional actuarial experience.

• Must be able to travel on a limited basis.

• Subject to drug testing under the Drug-Free Workplace Act based on reasonable suspicion.

• Subject to regulatory obligations under Chapter 22A-16, Florida Administrative Code.

• Must adhere to E-Verify employment requirements.
