This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assist in leading and supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and associated schedules.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Generate monthly flux analyses and clarify significant financial variances.
• Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Research, document, and apply technical accounting guidance in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Draft technical accounting memos and maintain accounting policies.
• Assess accounting implications of new transactions and commercial agreements.
• Compile financial statements, disclosures, reporting packages, and audit-ready workpapers.
• Act as the main accounting liaison for external auditors and coordinate audit requests.
• Assist in internal control walkthroughs, testing, implementation, and documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Revenue, People, and Operations teams.
• Review customer contracts and assist with equity issuances, financing activities, and strategic transactions.
• Aid in bonus accruals, commission accounting, and compensation-related accounting tasks.
• Engage in special projects, system implementations, and initiatives for process improvement.
• Automate accounting processes and develop scalable accounting procedures and best practices.
• Contribute to enhancing the company's internal control environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification required or currently pursuing CPA.
• Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or roles in high-growth technology firms.
• Strong technical accounting expertise in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Experience in supporting financial statement audits.
• Proficient in preparing technical accounting memos and accounting policy documentation.
• Solid understanding of financial statement preparation and financial reporting.
• Experience in facilitating month-end close processes in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities with great attention to detail.
• Preferred experience in Big Four or national public accounting firms.
• CPA license preferred.
• Experience in high-growth SaaS, AI, or technology companies preferred.
• Familiarity with project-based, milestone-based, or services revenue models preferred.
• Understanding of ASC 606 is preferred.
• Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting is preferred.
• Knowledge of stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718 is preferred.
• Experience in equity accounting, capitalization tables, and equity rollforwards is preferred.
• Background in debt instruments, warrants, and complex financing transactions is preferred.
• Experience with annual financial statement audits is preferred.
• Knowledge of internal controls design and documentation is preferred.
• Experience in accounting systems or ERP implementations is preferred.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar financial systems is preferred.
• Experience in a venture-backed startup accounting function is a plus.
• Background in AI, cloud infrastructure, or professional services businesses is a plus.
• Experience with milestone or consumption-based revenue models is a plus.
• Familiarity with project accounting and percentage-of-completion or milestone billing is a plus.
• Experience producing accounting white papers for auditors is a plus.
• Background in financing or M&A due diligence is a plus.
