This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Daily entry of retail and wholesale deals into the DMS from finalized deal jackets.
• Assess deal jackets for completeness and address any missing or incorrect items with stores.
• Maintain P&L reporting at the deal level, capturing front-end and back-end gross by category.
• Monitor deal exceptions, communicate these to business operations and store teams, and facilitate resolution or recontracting prior to month-end close.
• Reconcile posted gross in the accounting system with deal-level gross in the DMS and document any variances.
• Record consumer purchases and trade-ins, including lien payoffs, funding and payoff discrepancies, negative equity, and seller payouts.
• Track title statuses and collaborate with buying centers and title clerks to resolve outstanding items.
• Assist with auction, dealer, and fleet acquisitions as well as remarketing sales.
• Reconcile inventory in the accounting system with the DMS and physical inventory across all locations, including in-transit units.
• Monitor reconditioning costs per unit and ensure accurate capitalization.
• Document daily bank and credit card transactions and finalize monthly reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable via the bill pay platform, including vendor setup, approval routing, and payment processing.
• Track customer receivables and contracts in transit from lenders.
• Execute the month-end close checklist in collaboration with the finance lead.
• Record recurring GAAP-based entries and coordinate year-end adjustments with external support.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for review.
• Assemble documentation for financial statements and reporting for investors and lenders.
• Assist year-end auditors, including participating in physical inventory counts and supporting opening balance inquiries.
• Document and standardize the accounting process from signed deals through to accounting close.
• Suggest and implement the appropriate balance between in-house and external accounting assistance.
• Act as the accounting liaison for the DMS and its integrations with recon, website, CRM, bill pay, and payroll systems.
• Generate reports, enhance the deal-to-close process, and facilitate onboarding of new locations and sales channels.
• Over 5 years of automotive accounting experience at a dealership or dealer group, CPA firm, or in outsourced accounting roles for automotive clients.
• Practical experience with deal posting and deal-level gross within a DMS such as Dealertrack, Advent, CDK, Reynolds, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with front-end and back-end gross by category, including vehicle sales, F&I products, documentation fees, and additional costs like chargers and accessories.
• Experience managing a dealer month-end close, which includes bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and inventory tied to the DMS, along with cutoff and accruals.
• Knowledge of consumer vehicle acquisition and trade-in accounting, including lien payoff letters, timing of payoffs and funding differences, title statuses, and seller payouts.
• Understanding of reconditioning accounting, including repair orders, internal labor and parts, and the flow of recon costs into inventory and vehicle gross.
• Proficient in accrual accounting and capable of booking standard GAAP entries comfortably.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience is preferred.
• CPA certification or being on the CPA track is a plus.
• Experience supporting multiple rooftops or dealer clients.
• Background in assisting with financial statement audits.
• Experience in identifying, documenting, and recording write-offs.
• Familiarity with DMSs, recon management systems like Repair360, bill pay, payroll, CRMs, and system integrations.
• Comfortable utilizing modern and AI tools to automate routine tasks and verify outputs.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with store managers, sales teams, business operations, finance, and external accounting support.
