Account Manager – Group Benefits

📋 Description

• Act as the main point of contact for key policyholders and producers.

• Foster and nurture relationships through consistent on-site visits, proactive communication, negotiation, and problem-solving.

• Serve as the intermediary between clients and home office departments.

• Initiate enhancements to plans and rectify administrative discrepancies.

• Conduct face-to-face meetings with clients prior to renewals to review claims and contracts, providing recommendations for changes.

• Oversee the amendment process for assigned accounts.

• Collaborate with sales representatives and underwriters on renewal activities and tailored retention strategies.

• Collect underwriting data, evaluate claims experience, determine renewal actions, and compile renewal summaries.

• Negotiate rates, contract terms, and administrative matters with Regional or National Accounts.

• Advocate for additional lines of coverage and improvements to plans.

• Request and assess in-force proposal requests, presenting proposals to brokers and policyholders.

• Assist with the acquisition, submission, and implementation of National Accounts and Regional Accounts cases involving over 500 lives.

• Lead and manage the submission, setup, and installation of new groups assigned.

• Provide support to new administrators at assigned in-force accounts.

• Facilitate enrollment processes, including preparing materials, leading enrollment meetings, and participating in benefit fairs.

• Create and sustain an account management strategy that promotes business growth, profitability, and client retention.


⛳️ Requirements

• Residency in one of the specified states: DC, VA, MD, NC, or SC is mandatory for this role.

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in group insurance account management, specifically in the 2500+ lives sector.

• A Life and Disability insurance license for all states within the office’s designated territory.

• Availability of a personal automobile for business purposes, accompanied by adequate insurance and a clean driving record.

• Willingness to travel within the territory for in-person meetings with clients and brokers upon request.

• Ability to cultivate and manage relationships with key policyholders and producers.

• Proficient in negotiation, prompt communication, problem resolution, and managing customer expectations.

• Capability to analyze claims experience and contracts, offering recommendations for coverage or contractual alterations.

• Skills to gather underwriting data and prepare renewal summaries and strategies.

• Competence in negotiating rates, contract provisions, and administrative issues.

• Ability to identify and promote additional coverage options and enhancements to plans.

• Capability to review in-force proposal requests and present proposals effectively.

• Proficiency in facilitating enrollment processes, enrollment meetings, and benefit fairs.

• Commitment to collaboration: actively engages colleagues to achieve common goals.

• Customer-focused: understands and anticipates the needs of both internal and external customers.

• Adaptable: responds effectively to change.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check, along with verification of employment, education, and licensing.

• Must be bondable.
