Account Manager – Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Expand Agilent's market presence in chromatography, mass spectrometry, and associated consumables and services throughout the region.

• Actively seek out new clients and opportunities; generate demand and drive sales from initial contact to closure.

• Establish and maintain long-term relationships with researchers, faculty members, lab managers, and procurement teams.

• Meet all sales objectives and territorial initiatives.

• Develop and implement a territory strategy for both academic and commercial accounts.

• Collaborate with Product Specialists, Consumables and Supplies, Service teams, and One Agilent colleagues.

• Provide accurate forecasts on a monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual basis.

• Keep disciplined updates in Salesforce CRM, manage expense reporting, and prepare business reports.

• Spend the majority of work hours on college campuses and customer locations throughout the Pacific Northwest.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or another physical or life science discipline from an accredited institution.

• More than 1 year of relevant experience in scientific or laboratory settings with analytical instrumentation (GC, LC, MS) or in field sales and customer engagement.

• Fundamental understanding of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or relevant analytical workflows.

• Proven success in a sales-oriented role focused on new business development, including prospecting and pipeline management.

• Capability to handle complex sales processes involving multiple stakeholders, funding sources, and procurement procedures.

• Experience in contract negotiation and collaboration with purchasing and procurement departments.

• Proficient in building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.

• Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and consultative selling abilities.

• Strong self-management, organizational, territory planning, and time management skills.

• Ability to work effectively both in a team-selling environment and independently in a performance-oriented atmosphere.

• Willingness and ability to travel overnight approximately 75% of the time, often for up to three weeks each month.

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving history.

• Preferred: Over 3 years of sales experience in analytical instrumentation, laboratory technology, life sciences, or a related scientific field.

• Preferred: Experience in selling to academic, university, government, or research laboratory settings.

• Preferred: Technical expertise in chromatography, mass spectrometry, or related analytical workflows.

• Preferred: A proven record of consistently achieving or surpassing sales goals and expanding market share.
