This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +5 more states.
• Drive profitable expansion for Teknor Apex’s Engineered Plastics and Elastomers products throughout the Ohio Valley territory.
• Oversee the designated territory and customer portfolio.
• Identify, cultivate, secure, and commercialize new business opportunities with OEMs, processors, contract manufacturers, and strategic partners.
• Take ownership of commercial strategy and performance, encompassing revenue and volume growth, margin enhancement, pricing discipline, and account profitability.
• Develop and implement strategic account and prospect initiatives.
• Foster relationships across procurement, supply chain, engineering, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, executive, and commercial stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Sales Management on forecasts, pricing strategies, business assessments, contract formulation, and major negotiations.
• Partner with Application Development, Technical Service, Product Management, Marketing, Sales Development, Supply Chain, Operations, and global teams.
• Assist with material selection, trials, qualifications, commercialization, and problem resolution.
• Convert customer requirements into value-based material recommendations and commercial proposals.
• Create and present sales and technical presentations.
• Maintain regular communication with customers to identify needs, drive growth strategies, resolve issues, and provide account support.
• Develop customer-specific value programs, including vendor-managed and service-oriented initiatives.
• Collect and disseminate competitive intelligence.
• Represent Teknor Apex at trade shows, industry events, customer meetings, sales gatherings, and training sessions.
• Train, coach, and mentor commercial team members as needed.
• Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven B2B sales, account management, or business development experience in plastics, polymers, specialty compounds, chemicals, or a closely related technical field.
• Established track record of profitable growth within complex accounts and intricate selling cycles.
• Strong understanding of polymer compounding.
• Knowledge of extrusion, injection molding, and related conversion processes.
• Capability to provide technical product guidance and develop value-in-use/value-based selling cases.
• Experience managing customer relationships at all levels within the organization.
• Excellent planning, forecasting, budgeting, account strategy, and pipeline management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, alongside CRM and account-management software.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages are advantageous.
• High self-motivation, accountability, and effectiveness in a remote independent role.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• A technical degree in engineering, chemistry, polymer science, materials science, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory is mandatory.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Experience with TPV, TPE, and/or engineering plastics, particularly nylon, is preferred.
• Experience selling to specifiers and processors in the designated region is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to safely and effectively perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
• Must be able to talk, listen, and communicate clearly over the phone and through virtual media.
