This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Formulate and implement a nationwide business development strategy aimed at acquiring new clients and enhancing strategic account growth.
• Recognize, assess, pursue, and secure new opportunities in both public and private sector markets.
• Cultivate relationships with project owners, developers, engineering firms, utilities, public agencies, municipalities, industrial clients, and other organizations in need of environmental consulting services.
• Sustain a robust sales pipeline through strategic prospecting, networking, referrals, and active industry engagement.
• Represent Headway Environmental at industry conferences, professional associations, and client meetings.
• Establish connections with key decision-makers and position technical experts as trusted advisors.
• Comprehend clients’ business goals, project portfolios, permitting requirements, and regulatory hurdles.
• Identify opportunities to enhance existing client relationships across various service lines.
• Collaborate with technical and operational leadership to devise long-term account strategies.
• Collect client, project, regulatory, schedule, and procurement intelligence to inform pursuit planning.
• Facilitate initial client discussions with technical subject matter experts.
• Transition qualified opportunities to technical and operations teams for scope development, pricing, proposal preparation, and project execution.
• Keep accurate records of opportunity information and pursuit status in Salesforce.
• Track industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging market opportunities.
• Provide competitive intelligence and client insights to company leadership.
• Contribute to the formulation of business development strategies for emerging markets and new service offerings.
• A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, engineering, planning, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Five or more years of proven business development or sales experience within environmental consulting, environmental engineering, or related professional services.
• Demonstrated track record in developing strategic client relationships and securing new business.
• Working knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory frameworks, including NEPA, ESA, and CWA.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
• Proficient in Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms.
• Willingness and ability to travel nationally, approximately 30% of the time.
• Established relationships within renewable energy, transportation, mining, water resources, infrastructure, land development, or public-sector markets are preferred.
• Familiarity with ecological restoration, environmental compliance, environmental permitting, CWA, ESA, state, local, and tribal environmental regulations, and NEPA is preferred.
• Experience in supporting complex multidisciplinary proposals and capture planning is preferred.
