This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Provide hands-on training in the essentials of 3D scanning, with an emphasis on mechanical engineering.
• Instruct on the entire Scan-to-CAD workflow: 3D scanning → point cloud creation → mesh generation → reverse engineering → CAD modeling → technical drawing → manufacturing.
• Oversee project work that involves real-world components.
• Integrate up-to-date technologies and industry applications into the training sessions.
• Assist participants in effectively applying their knowledge to real-life scenarios.
• Conduct classes in a virtual environment as well.
• Educational background or degree in fields such as mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, or surveying/metrology.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, or digital data acquisition.
• Strong understanding of various scanning technologies, including laser, structured light, and handheld scanners.
• Expertise in working with point clouds, mesh data, and popular file formats such as STL, OBJ, PLY, and STEP.
• Experience in preparing and post-processing scanned data.
• Practical knowledge of integrating scan data into CAD software.
• Familiarity with the reverse engineering of mechanical components and assemblies.
• Good grasp of technical drawings and engineering principles.
• Experience in teaching adults or providing professional training.
• Knowledge of Artec Studio, Geomagic (Design X/Warp), PolyWorks, VXelements, or FARO Scene.
• Proficient in at least one CAD software, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
• Understanding of metrology, quality standards, and data assessment.
• Ability to evaluate scan results regarding accuracy and applicability.
• Experience in hands-on workflows and project-based learning methodologies.
• Interest in digital twins, digitization, and Scan-to-CAD processes.
• Nice-to-have: certifications from scanning or software companies.
• Nice-to-have: experience in optical metrology or quality assurance.
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of 3D printing or additive manufacturing.
• Nice-to-have: experience with mobile mapping, drone scanning, or large-scale scanning initiatives.
• Nice-to-have: exposure to AI, BIM, or AR/VR technologies.
• Nice-to-have: experience in delivering online training.
