This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Contribute to the development of the Tailscale product by working on client code and backend services.
• Create and sustain the Windows client utilizing the modern WinUI/Windows App SDK stack.
• Assist in the development of shared code that supports macOS, mobile, and other key client platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers to create a native Windows desktop client using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and Go.
• Implement features that support the latest Windows platform advancements while ensuring compatibility with certain older versions.
• Develop and enhance Windows product functionalities, with an emphasis on UI components and platform integration.
• Create and maintain unit and integration tests utilizing Microsoft Testing Platform v2 and xUnit.
• Contribute to the shared, cross-platform codebase of Tailscale.
• Work collaboratively with technically adept teams in an asynchronous environment.
• Minimum of four years of experience in software development.
• Strong grasp of software development principles along with an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the Windows platform.
• Expertise in C# and modern native UI frameworks such as WinUI, UWP, or WPF.
• Knowledge of general networking concepts, including DNS, VPNs, IP networking, and routing.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback while working independently.
• Adaptability to the fast-paced nature of a startup environment.
• Experience with WinUI 3 and Windows App SDK.
• Proven experience in developing native Windows applications and services.
• Familiarity with the Windows networking stack and Windows Filtering Platform.
• Understanding of the Windows security model, session isolation, access tokens, and related concepts.
• Proficiency in the Go programming language.
