Wildlife Biologist – On-Call

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Perform biological compliance monitoring during ongoing construction projects.

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds.

• Create technical reports that document survey and monitoring results.

• Develop biological technical reports and prepare permit application packages.

• Execute impact analyses for biological and aquatic resources.

• Carry out natural resource field surveys.

• Foster relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction personnel.

• Organize project documentation and monitor project timelines.

• Provide support for California surface transportation initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or proven equivalency of experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring within California.

• A valid US Driver's License and verification of pre-employment driving record are mandatory.

• Independent travel is required.

• US Citizenship is necessary.

• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species in California.

• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California.

• Strong technical writing skills.

• Ability to identify Central Coast California plant species.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capacity to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Preference for candidates with 4+ years of relevant experience.

• Desired experience in conducting aquatic resources delineations, though not mandatory.

• Desired experience supporting transportation projects, though not mandatory.

• Desired experience with California Coastal Commission justification and ESHA analysis, though not mandatory.
