Wildlife Biologist – On-call

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Perform biological compliance monitoring during ongoing construction projects

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting avian species

• Compile technical reports that detail survey and monitoring results

• Develop biological technical reports and permit application packages as required

• Foster relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction teams

• Organize project documentation and monitor project timelines

• Assist in impact assessments for biological and aquatic resources

• Engage in technical writing, including desktop reports and evaluations

• Provide support for California surface transportation initiatives

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field in environmental science

• 2 years of pertinent experience or equivalent education/experience in biological surveys and monitoring within California

• A valid US Driver's License and verification of pre-employment driving record are mandatory

• Independent travel is required

• US Citizenship is necessary

• Preferred: 4+ years of related experience

• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species in California

• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California

• Proven proficiency in technical writing

• Skills in identifying plant species of Central Coast California

• Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting

• A positive demeanor and flexibility in adapting to shifting priorities
