Wildlife Biologist – On-Call

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Assist in the execution of surface transportation projects throughout California.

• Carry out biological compliance monitoring during ongoing construction activities.

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting bird populations.

• Generate technical reports that detail survey and monitoring results.

• Develop biological technical reports and prepare permit application packages.

• Execute impact assessments concerning biological and aquatic resources.

• Engage in technical writing, encompassing desktop reports and evaluations.

• Foster relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction teams.

• Maintain organized project files and monitor project timelines.

• Assist transportation clients as a remote, part-time, on-call team member.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science discipline.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a proven equivalent in biological surveys and monitoring within California.

• Possession of a valid US Driver's License and successful pre-employment driving record review.

• Capability to travel independently.

• US Citizenship is mandatory.

• Understanding of common and special-status wildlife species in California.

• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California.

• Strong proficiency in technical writing.

• Skills in identifying Central Coast California plant species.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
