Wildlife Biologist – Field Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Perform biological compliance monitoring during ongoing construction projects

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds

• Generate technical reports that document survey and monitoring results

• Develop biological technical reports and permit application packages as necessary

• Foster relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction teams

• Organize project documentation and monitor project timelines

• Assist California surface transportation initiatives and promote environmental sustainability

• Attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office as a requirement for employment

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science discipline

• 2 years of pertinent experience or proven equivalence of experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring within California

• Valid driver's license

• Capability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in line with company policy

• Ability to travel independently

• US Citizenship is mandatory

• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species in California

• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California

• Strong technical writing skills and the ability to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation

• Skills in identifying Central Coast California plant species

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

• Positive demeanor and flexibility in adapting to changing priorities
