Wildlife Biologist – Field Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Perform biological compliance monitoring throughout ongoing construction projects

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting bird populations

• Create technical reports that document the findings from surveys and monitoring activities

• Develop biological technical reports and prepare permit application packages as necessary

• Foster strong relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction teams

• Organize project documentation and monitor project timelines

• Assist with California surface transportation projects and initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability

• Work remotely on a part-time, on-call basis


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field of environmental science

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency through experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring within California

• Possession of a valid driver’s license

• Capability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in line with company policy

• Ability to travel independently

• US Citizenship is a requirement

• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species in California

• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California

• Proficient in technical writing

• Skills in identifying Central Coast California plant species

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail

• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment

• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities

• Positive attitude

• Experience with aquatic resources delineation is preferred but not mandatory

• Experience in transportation projects is preferred but not mandatory

• Experience with California Coastal Commission justification and ESHA analysis is preferred but not mandatory
