Wildlife Biologist – Field Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Carry out biological compliance monitoring for ongoing construction projects.

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds.

• Compile technical reports that document the findings from surveys and monitoring activities.

• Develop biological technical reports and prepare permit application packages as required.

• Foster strong relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction personnel.

• Organize project documentation and monitor project timelines.

• Assist California surface transportation projects and promote environmental sustainability initiatives.

• Offer field-focused, on-call support to a transportation client.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field in environmental science.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring within California.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Capability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check as per company policy.

• Ability to travel independently.

• US Citizenship is required.

• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species in California.

• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California.

• Proficient in technical writing.

• Skills in plant identification specific to Central Coast California.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
