This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create and execute user-friendly, visually stunning, agency-branded graphical interfaces for a secure information-sharing platform.
• Convert stakeholder requirements into effective navigation, page layouts, prototypes, and reusable design elements.
• Facilitate interfaces for the search and presentation of analyses, reports, documents, images, videos, and information contributed by first responders.
• Implement Section 508 accessibility standards, plain-language guidelines, CISA branding, and relevant DHS digital experience protocols.
• Work in collaboration with solution architects and engineers to merge interfaces with SaaS solutions, cloud services, and CISA enterprise functionalities.
• Engage in incremental design reviews that focus on usability, identity management, security, interoperability, and system health.
• Assist in enabling secure external-user access and managing controlled upload workflows alongside platform and security teams.
• Aid in interface testing and verification, rectify usability and display issues, and document modifications for Government evaluation.
• Support the presentation of geospatial data, analytics, and dashboards through authorized enterprise services and APIs.
• Oversee version-controlled interface assets, design documentation, and user support materials.
• Integrate feedback from stakeholders into ongoing improvements.
• Undertake other related responsibilities as assigned.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in web design, front-end development, or user interface work.
• Bachelor’s degree in web design, computer science, information technology, graphic design, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proficiency in creating responsive interfaces utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other pertinent front-end tools.
• Capability to present a portfolio or examples showcasing relevant work.
• Skill in translating user requirements into wireframes, prototypes, navigation structures, layouts, and reusable interface components.
• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards, agency branding, usability principles, and secure web design practices.
• Experience in collaborating with engineers and architects on API-driven interfaces, authentication processes, version control, and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Required to successfully complete the DHS/CISA OBP Public Trust background investigation.
• Must obtain and uphold a favorable DHS suitability/fitness determination (Public Trust).
• Must maintain necessary system access.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and comply with DHS/CISA personnel and system access requirements.
• Must adhere to nondisclosure and sensitive information protection protocols.
• A certification in web accessibility or user experience design is preferred.
