This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee Release Management, QA, and DevOps, ensuring high delivery quality, disciplined releases, and platform reliability.
• Maintain indirect coordination with manual QA engineers across various engineering value streams.
• Provide proactive leadership in solution design, architectural decisions, production incident response, and troubleshooting efforts.
• Collaborate with the VP of Engineering on the adoption of AI coding, architectural guidelines, and release coordination.
• Engage in senior leadership discussions with the COO, VP of Engineering, and product leadership teams.
• Design and implement a comprehensive engineering quality framework addressing testing and release readiness.
• Manage multi-platform automation initiatives for Angular, Swift, and Kotlin.
• Establish and enforce quality gates alongside go/no-go release criteria.
• Mentor and develop QA teams towards an automation-first quality engineering approach.
• Set up test data management, ensure environment parity, and integrate CI/CD quality practices.
• Create quality dashboards to provide insights for engineering and leadership teams.
• Implement structured release gate processes and secure formal sign-offs.
• Collaborate with Technical Support to align production issues with engineering priorities.
• Conduct post-release retrospectives and promote systemic process improvements.
• Enforce scope freeze discipline and ensure QA involvement in planning and grooming sessions.
• Spearhead the DevOps strategy encompassing CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, alerting, and system reliability.
• Enhance observability and visibility regarding system health, deployment frequency, change failure rates, and MTTR.
• Supervise SRE practices and build towards a dedicated SRE function in the future.
• Ensure that infrastructure and deployment practices comply with security, compliance, and uptime standards.
• Advocate for AI-assisted coding, testing, test generation, test maintenance, and regression coverage.
• Over 10 years of engineering experience.
• Minimum of 4 years in engineering leadership roles managing QA, DevOps, or platform reliability teams.
• Strong background in quality engineering with experience in building or rebuilding automation frameworks.
• Proven experience in migrating automation frameworks across web, iOS, and Android platforms.
• Track record of successfully transitioning from manual-heavy QA to automation-first practices in fintech, banking, or regulated environments.
• Experience in implementing release gates and enforcing go/no-go decisions effectively.
• Practical experience with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Appium, Maestro, or similar.
• Familiarity with Angular, Swift, and Kotlin environments is a plus.
• Extensive DevOps and platform reliability experience, including CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and observability.
• AWS experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of driving the adoption of AI coding and testing tools.
• Technical expertise in solution design, architecture, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Cross-functional experience involving technical support, release management, and product development.
• Strong communication skills and organizational influence.
• Experience in fintech, core banking, or digital banking is advantageous.
• Familiarity with credit union or community bank environments is beneficial.
• Experience with SOC 2 Type II, PCI DSS, or similar compliance requirements is a plus.
• Experience managing the transition from manual QA to quality engineering is a plus.
• Experience building or managing an SRE function is a plus.
• Ability to work standard business hours aligned with Eastern Time.
• Must be able to work remotely from the country where hired.
