VP of IT and Cybersecurity

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop the IT and Cyber teams; establish goals, expectations, and performance metrics.

• Design and enhance the IT and Cybersecurity organization, focusing on workforce planning, leadership development, succession planning, and strategic partnerships.

• Define decision-making authority and accountability across managers, internal teams, managed service providers (MSPs), and managed security service providers (MSSPs).

• Create a weekly operational rhythm that encompasses intake, prioritization, escalations, metrics analysis, and leadership updates.

• Foster a culture centered around customer service, thorough documentation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

• Oversee IT service management processes, including ticket triage, service level agreements (SLAs), escalation procedures, and end-user communications.

• Ensure the stable operation of Microsoft 365, identity management, endpoint administration, collaboration tools, file services, and essential SaaS applications.

• Promote standardization in onboarding/offboarding, device lifecycle management, patching, and asset management.

• Develop and manage a multi-year IT and cybersecurity strategy, including target maturity, control framework, operating model, priorities, and investment roadmap.

• Set security policies and standards regarding endpoint protection, identity and access management, monitoring, vulnerability management, data protection, and incident response.

• Enforce principles of least privilege, role-based access control (RBAC), and zero-trust methodologies.

• Direct technology and cybersecurity decisions during significant incidents; maintain runbooks, coordinate tabletop exercises, and conduct post-incident evaluations.

• Uphold SOC 2 compliance, vendor due diligence, and regulatory control documentation; address control deficiencies and manage risk exceptions.

• Ensure adherence to third-party risk management processes for vendors and contract renewals.

• Manage the departmental budget, workforce planning, vendor portfolio, and sourcing strategies.

• Oversee vendor relationships, managed service providers, and security service providers; ensure accountability for outcomes, deliverables, and service level agreements (SLAs).

• Lead forecasting, contract renewals, licensing optimization, and procurement efforts in collaboration with Operations and Finance.

• Advise executive leadership on technology risk management, resilience, incident handling, investment strategies, and risk acceptance.

• Represent IT and Cybersecurity in executive, audit, board, client, and strategic partner discussions.

• Translate strategic objectives into quarterly operational plans and provide decision-grade reporting on performance, incidents, risks, investments, and roadmap advancements.


⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in IT operations, cybersecurity, infrastructure, identity, or related technology leadership roles with an increasing scope of responsibility.

• 5+ years of experience in leading teams and leaders, preferably across both in-house teams and strategic service providers.

• Proven track record of owning departmental strategy, budgets, organizational structure, executive risk decisions, and significant technology or cybersecurity incidents.

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365/Entra ID, endpoint management solutions (e.g., JumpCloud/Rippling/MDM), identity standards (SSO/SAML/OIDC/SCIM), and SaaS administration.

• Familiarity with modern security controls: endpoint protection, vulnerability management, logging/monitoring, IAM governance, and incident response.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders and executive-level audiences.

• Preferred: Experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar assurance programs.

• Preferred: Knowledge of operational risk in financial services and vendor due diligence processes.

• Preferred: Experience managing relationships with MSPs and MSSPs.
