VP, Infrastructure Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define, communicate, and implement an infrastructure vision in collaboration with functional partners, aligned with Life360's overarching goals.

• Coordinate infrastructure investments with business objectives while closely working with the executive team.

• Develop build/deploy pipelines, internal tools, and self-service platforms that empower engineering, product, and design teams to accelerate delivery, including AI-enhanced functionalities.

• Ensure secure and cost-effective scalability of infrastructure as user growth and workload complexity expand.

• Oversee uptime, latency, observability, and disaster recovery for systems serving millions of families.

• Recruit, mentor, and cultivate a top-tier infrastructure and platform engineering team.

• Promote engineering excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Data Science/ML, Security, and Product leaders on strategic infrastructure projects, including computational and platform requirements for AI-driven features.

• Shape the technical strategy to achieve the 2028 objectives of 150 million monthly active users and over $1 billion in revenue.

• Assist the engineering team in adopting AI-native methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• An experienced infrastructure/platform engineering leader with a proven history of building exceptional teams.

• Extensive experience in leading large-scale infrastructure or platform engineering teams, including oversight of managers or directors.

• Profound technical knowledge in distributed systems and cloud architecture.

• Proven experience in scaling infrastructure for consumer products at scale — from iterative reliability enhancements to significant platform investments.

• Direct experience with, or significant involvement in, an organization's transition to AI-native methodologies. Leading this transition is not necessary, but familiarity from within is expected.

• A propensity for speed — consistently seeking to experiment with new ideas and swiftly learning from failures to discover successful approaches.

• Strong analytical skills for data — adept at analyzing cost, performance, and reliability metrics to identify effective strategies and using KPIs to inform decisions on reliability and cost efficiency.

• A background in firms recognized for engineering excellence and resilient, high-performing platforms.

• Strategic mindset coupled with strong storytelling abilities — capable of motivating and inspiring a team around a unified technical vision.

• A genuine belief that robust, well-architected infrastructure provides a competitive edge — the unseen foundation that supports exceptional user experiences.
