This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Spearhead the comprehensive modernization of a vital EHR and billing platform utilized by pediatric therapy practices across the country.
• Take ownership of the long-term technology vision while remaining actively involved—ideal for a director-level leader seeking a key role.
• Collaborate directly with a product-oriented CEO and an experienced designer; take over a team of two enthusiastic engineers who are well-versed in the codebase and eager for guidance.
• Influence the engineering culture, hiring strategy, and best practices from the outset in a trusting, low-bureaucracy setting.
• Develop HIPAA-compliant AI functionalities (ambient documentation, treatment-plan suggestions, predictive scheduling) that clinicians will appreciate—and competitors will aspire to replicate.
• Establish and communicate a phased modernization strategy that aligns with product, clinical, and business objectives.
• Provide guidance to the CEO and Board on architectural decisions, AI integration, and cloud investment strategies.
• Modernize the legacy .NET monolith to the latest .NET 8/9+ version and implement cloud-native patterns without interrupting ongoing clinical operations.
• Substitute embedded Bootstrap pages with a WCAG 2.1 AA-compliant front-end using React, Vue, or Angular.
• Initiate companion mobile applications that enhance clinician usability and improve patient workflow efficiency.
• Manage HIPAA Security Rule compliance, lead SOC 2 Type II preparedness, and cultivate a security-first engineering culture.
• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, including more than 4 years in leadership roles as Director, Senior Manager, or equivalent.
• Proficient hands-on expertise in the Microsoft .NET ecosystem with a proven history of modernizing legacy .NET systems.
• Established experience in architecting and delivering large-scale JavaScript/TypeScript front-ends (React, Vue, or Angular).
• Extensive knowledge of HIPAA-regulated environments and healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, X12, etc.).
• Strong background in Cloud and DevOps with AWS, Azure, or GCP—IaC, containers, CI/CD, monitoring.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering AI/ML capabilities in production SaaS applications.
• Player/coach leadership approach: you continue to code, review pull requests, and set architectural guidelines while empowering your team.
