This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead and expand BibliU's engineering function.
• Take ownership of team leadership, engineering standards, technical governance, security posture, and ensure delivery aligns with the product roadmap.
• Build trust within the team and establish predictable delivery within the first six months.
• Integrate AI-assisted development into standard team practices.
• Scale the engineering team in line with business growth.
• Define architectural direction for the next stage of scaling.
• Mentor and develop engineering managers.
• Document, manage, and enhance the security posture.
• Enhance availability, performance, and incident metrics.
• Create a reliable release process and transparent roadmap.
• Assess the adoption of AI-assisted development and boost quality and security metrics.
• Maintain documentation of engineering standards, architectural decisions, and technical debt.
• Formulate a credible architectural plan for future scaling.
• Provide credible reports to senior leadership and ensure alignment of engineering output with commercial goals.
• Report directly to the CEO (interim).
• Extensive experience leading software engineering or application development functions at the VP, Director, or CTO level.
• Proven track record of guiding teams through periods of change.
• Demonstrated responsibility for delivering complex web and mobile applications, including governance during releases.
• Experience in managing engineering teams and technical leaders.
• Proficiency in full stack TypeScript and AWS is essential.
• Proven history of managing application security, including secure coding practices, vulnerability management, audits, and customer security reviews.
• Experience in implementing development governance, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and quality assurance standards.
• Ability to manage technical risks and align engineering outputs with commercial objectives, along with providing credible reports to senior leadership.
• Strong comprehension of cloud-native architectures and modern development frameworks.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development, including tooling, guardrails, reviews, and metrics for measuring gains.
• Background in SaaS, EdTech, FinTech, or similar product-led digital environments.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards, secure coding practices, and certifications requested by customers.
• Familiarity with international product deployments and multi-region infrastructures.
• Experience with data-driven product optimization and analytics frameworks.
• Experience in a resource-constrained scale-up environment.
• Capability to work remotely within the UK.
