Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Assist in refining products through the creation of tickets and analysis of development work.

• Adhere to the architectural decisions made by the team and grasp their underlying reasons.

• Engage in brainstorming sessions, proof-of-concept projects, and prototype development.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and break down complex tickets; identify interdependencies among teams and epics.

• Contribute to Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), automated testing, and enhance test coverage.

• Aid in strategic launch and release planning alongside product management and cross-functional teams.

• Foster collaboration across teams, promote end-to-end solutions, and facilitate go-live activities.

• Examine product adoption and enhance the customer journey through improvement solutions.

• Address system hygiene and prevent future issues through the implementation of high-quality code.

• Adhere to coding standards and stay updated with current technology trends and best practices.

• Manage complex tickets and engage in ongoing improvement and code review processes.

• Utilize AI tools for tasks such as code generation, testing, debugging, and optimization.

• Leverage AI insights to automate repetitive tasks, thereby enhancing development efficiency and product quality.

• Assess and integrate AI/ML capabilities where applicable.

• Stay informed about emerging AI trends and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related area, complemented by 2+ years of relevant experience or a mix of education and experience.

• Familiarity with software design principles and the development tools, technologies, and domains in use.

• Proficient in at least one programming language.

• Experience in web application development.

• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, and testing methodologies.

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a professional and respectful manner.

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.

• Preferred: Experience with Ruby on Rails.

• Preferred: Familiarity with client-side JavaScript frameworks like Vue, React, Knockout, etc.

• Preferred: Experience in Agile software development.
