📋 Description

• Oversee the strategy, organization, and implementation of 1Password’s core service and development platforms.

• Report directly to the CTO.

• Create secure, reliable, and scalable foundations that empower teams to deliver, operate, and take ownership independently.

• Manage operations, drive delivery, and cultivate a high-performing team.

• Develop and implement the vision, strategy, objectives, and roadmaps for Platform Engineering.

• Spearhead multi-year transformations in engineering architecture and operational models.

• Construct shared platforms, supported pathways, and standardized practices to enhance reliability, security, developer efficiency, and scalability.

• Lead technology-adjacent strategic initiatives from concept through execution and ongoing enhancement.

• Design and refine the organization, ownership model, and operational processes.

• Establish accountability for platforms and services that are directly managed.

• Promote engineering standards, operational excellence, and safe, measurable Agentic Engineering practices.

• Implement platforms, controls, and evidence to support accountable adoption of engineering practices.

• Define quantifiable organizational outcomes and operational mechanisms to track progress, quality, adoption, operational health, and business impact.

• Foster cross-functional relationships and represent the technical organization in senior leadership discussions.

• Provide updates on strategic initiatives, operational execution, and industry developments.

• Build and lead a high-performing team through mentoring, coaching, talent assessment, and succession planning.

• Mentor and advocate for technology leaders across 1Password.

• Promote a high-performance culture focused on psychological safety, inclusivity, ownership, agility, and employee experience.

• Manage investment and capacity strategy with Finance, allocating resources to achieve the highest-value outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 7 years in a leadership capacity.

• Preferably experienced in building and operating at the intersections of IaaS, SaaS, and the cybersecurity sector.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related fields; or proven equivalent work experience.

• Demonstrated success in establishing durable, full-lifecycle ownership for critical platforms and services.

• Proven ability to deliver and manage cost-effective mission-critical infrastructure and platform systems.

• Strong business and technical insight in systems and software engineering.

• Capability to lead an organization and foster a culture of best practices and innovation.

• Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.

• Extensive experience in operational excellence, process and system optimization, scalability, and performance metrics.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with C-suite leaders and cross-functional teams.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Proven expertise in leading and sustaining multi-year transformational initiatives.

• Demonstrated experience in building, developing, and growing high-performing teams.

• Must currently be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada; no work authorization, relocation assistance, or visa sponsorship is provided.
