This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Spearhead Alight's global tax division, encompassing tax accounting, income tax compliance, transfer pricing, tax risk management, and strategic tax initiatives.
• Direct global income tax accounting and reporting in accordance with ASC 740.
• Supervise quarterly and annual tax provisions, tax-related SEC disclosures, effective tax rate analysis, and requisite documentation.
• Ensure accurate accounting and reporting for uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, deferred tax assets and liabilities, and updates on tax law.
• Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, and Internal Audit on financial statement reporting.
• Maintain and improve tax-related internal controls and SOX compliance processes.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of U.S. federal, state, local, and international income tax returns.
• Manage external service providers and monitor obligations regarding tax filings.
• Propel enhancements in the tax compliance process, focusing on automation and efficiency.
• Formulate, implement, and govern global transfer pricing policies.
• Supervise transfer pricing documentation and support for tax audits.
• Assess tax implications of business changes, transactions, restructurings, financing activities, and reorganizations.
• Lead tax due diligence and integration initiatives for acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic transactions.
• Manage tax audits and examinations while resolving tax disputes.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate organizational tax risks.
• Lead and develop the corporate tax team across global locations.
• Foster partnerships across Finance, Legal, Treasury, Human Resources, and business leadership.
• Communicate intricate tax matters to executive leadership, auditors, and external stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to senior management on tax-related issues.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field is mandatory.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in taxation.
• Background in public accounting, law firms, and/or multinational corporate tax environments.
• Extensive experience leading tax accounting and compliance functions within a large and complex organization.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal income taxation and ASC 740 tax accounting.
• Proven expertise in partnership taxation and partnership structures.
• Experience in overseeing global transfer pricing programs.
• Experience managing external advisors, audits, and tax disputes.
• Previous experience in a public company setting.
• Experience with acquisitions, restructurings, and strategic business initiatives is preferred.
• CPA, JD, or a Master’s in Taxation is highly desirable.
• Advanced tax certification or specialized tax education is a plus.
• Must possess work authorization in the United States that does not currently or in the future require visa sponsorship.
• Must successfully complete relevant background checks.
• Capability to conduct virtual interviews via video; camera-on participation may be necessary.
