Virtual Elementary Math and Reading Tutor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +39 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide tutoring in elementary-level math and reading utilizing the supplied lesson plans and supplementary practice materials.

• Assist students from grades K–8 throughout the United States via regular weekly virtual sessions.

• Offer focused, effective math instruction for students who are often performing at or below their grade level.

• Foster supportive and encouraging relationships while delivering constructive feedback to students.

• Conduct tutoring sessions using the BookNook virtual classroom platform.

• Select individual sessions or recurring series based on your availability.

• Maintain attendance of at least 80% for the sessions you claim to ensure consistency.

• Cancel any claimed sessions when unavailable, allowing peer tutors to step in for coverage.

• If invited, perform a five-minute recorded demonstration of early elementary math teaching.

• Complete the onboarding process, which includes setting up a payment account, undergoing an FBI background check, and obtaining paid tutor certification.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a classroom teacher, in EL/ESL/ELL education, tutoring, coaching, or in similar student support roles.

• Prior experience with online instruction; a college degree is preferred.

• Capability to deliver pre-structured math lessons and provide focused support for students at or below grade level.

• Ability to establish meaningful professional relationships with students and create an inspiring, motivating learning atmosphere.

• Access to a computer (laptop or desktop) and a webcam.

• A clean, distraction-free workspace is essential.

• Reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 20 Mbps.

• Must live in one of the eligible U.S. states or Washington, DC.

• All teaching sessions must be claimed and conducted within the 50 United States or Washington, DC.

• Availability for at least one hour on Mondays through Thursdays between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM ET is preferred.

• A personal email address is required for application correspondence.

• Applicants may need to complete a five-minute recorded demonstration of early elementary math instruction.

• A fingerprint-based FBI background check and BookNook tutor certification are required during the onboarding process.
