This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Provide executive leadership for integrated revenue diversification, growth, and strategic partnerships that align with Kinvia’s 10-year strategic vision.
• Direct the transition from traditional fundraising to a balanced revenue model that includes major gifts, philanthropy, partnerships, institutional funding, and innovative revenue streams.
• Collaborate with the senior leadership team to establish pathways for revenue growth, implement multi-year forecasting, and promote financial sustainability.
• Keep abreast of external trends in philanthropy, development, and social impact financing.
• Lead the integrated resource mobilization efforts that align fundraising, strategic partnerships, communications, branding, and impactful storytelling.
• Nurture long-standing relationships with donors and partners while cultivating additional high-value connections.
• Oversee major gifts, foundations, corporate partnerships, institutional funding, and other revenue channels.
• Ensure effective stewardship of donors and partners, and maintain systems for prospect development and relationship management.
• Collaborate with the VP of Programs & Partnerships to design funding and partnership strategies.
• Engage Board members, committees, and volunteer leaders to enhance relationship capital and revenue-generating capacity.
• Provide executive oversight for integrated fundraising communications, brand management, and engagement strategies.
• Offer strategic advice to the President & CEO and the Board regarding reputation, positioning, communication risks, and crisis management.
• Act as a strategic advisor to the President & CEO and contribute to decisions made by the Senior Leadership Team.
• Support the Board by providing reports and strategic insights on revenue, risks, and opportunities.
• Promote cross-functional collaboration among programs, finance, operations, and resource mobilization efforts.
• Lead the advancement and partnerships team through two Directors.
• Support talent development, succession planning, and organizational resilience initiatives.
• Oversee development and communications budgets, revenue goals, forecasting, and performance reporting.
• Ensure ethical donor stewardship, data management, compliance, system controls, and effective use of CRM systems.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for the President & CEO and the Board.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed and accommodate occasional evenings or weekends.
• Progressive senior leadership experience in fundraising, advancement, or revenue development.
• Proven track record of growing and diversifying revenue streams.
• Experience in leading through complexity, change, and constraints while ensuring long-term sustainability.
• Extensive expertise in major gifts and relationship-centered fundraising.
• Background in various revenue streams, including annual giving, mass market, major gifts, individuals, foundations, and corporations.
• Strong strategic, financial, and systems-thinking skills.
• Proficiency in forecasting, multi-year planning, budget management, charity regulations, and CRA guidelines.
• Exceptional skills in building relationships with donors, partners, executives, and Boards.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead and empower senior leaders and cultivate high-performing, collaborative teams.
• Outstanding communication skills, influence, and executive presence.
• Strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, decolonization, anti-racism, and anti-oppression principles.
• Experience working closely with a non-profit Board of Directors.
• Strong alignment with Kinvia’s mission and values.
• Cultural awareness, humility, and sensitivity, including the ability to engage respectfully with Indigenous partners in Canada and global collaborators.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work flexible hours as necessary.
• Candidates must have legal eligibility to work in Canada.
• Proficiency in French or Spanish is considered an asset.
• CFRE designation is regarded as an asset.
• Ability and willingness to be based in either Toronto or Ottawa.
• Familiarity with fundraising and CRM systems such as Blackbaud NXT.
