This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Identify and shape strategic opportunities, encompassing new products, material expansions, channel partnerships, and strategic alliances.
• Continuously monitor the healthcare market for emerging technologies, data sources, care models, and unmet needs.
• Investigate precision medicine opportunities that tackle under-testing, delayed diagnoses, and patient-treatment mismatches.
• Establish and nurture an active industry network through participation in events and conferences.
• Foster relationships with potential partners while maintaining awareness of developments in the healthcare market.
• Develop business cases that include market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, clinical feasibility assessments, and revenue pathways.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to assess the scientific validity and commercial potential of new concepts.
• Convert trends in healthcare, health data, and value-based care into specific opportunity areas.
• Analyze new business models, partner types, channel relationships, and avenues for growth.
• Create a pipeline of validated opportunities from the concept stage to investment-ready proposals.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in product strategy, corporate strategy, venture/innovation, or new product development.
• At least 4 years in a senior leadership position focused on identifying and developing new opportunities.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Extensive experience in healthcare, particularly in payer, health plan, laboratory/diagnostics, value-based care, or health IT is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of originating and validating new product, expansion, or partnership opportunities from inception, ideally within a regulated or clinically complex setting.
• Established professional network within healthcare or diagnostics, or demonstrated capability to rapidly build one.
• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, including constructing market models and business cases using incomplete information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present new concepts to executive leadership and secure buy-in.
• Preferred: experience with diagnostic or laboratory benefit management, genomic testing, or precision medicine.
• Preferred: experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems or workflows, including clinical data integration, EHR-embedded decision support, or interoperability.
• Preferred: previous experience in corporate strategy, innovation, venture, or new business development at a health plan, diagnostics company, or health technology firm.
• Preferred: exposure to life sciences or pharmaceutical business models, such as market access, companion diagnostics, or real-world evidence.
• Preferred: experience with payment integrity and/or revenue cycle management (RCM).
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous situations with a strong inclination toward independent and self-directed exploration.
• Eligibility for remote work.
• Quarterly travel to Avalon’s corporate office in Tampa, Florida.
