Vice President of Operations, Post-Acute Dialysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Provide executive leadership for all Post-Acute operations while establishing the strategy, priorities, standards, and operational cadence necessary for scaling the division across various markets and states.

• Develop a leadership structure that supports clinically effective and financially viable operations in at least five states.

• Create scalable systems, standardized workflows, management routines, escalation pathways, and decision-making rights.

• Identify operational risks, constraints, and capability gaps, implementing corrective actions as needed.

• Oversee daily operations of SNF dialysis programs via Area Managers.

• Ensure safe, efficient, reliable, and contract-compliant service delivery across assigned facilities.

• Manage staffing, scheduling, treatment completion, documentation, inventory, facility readiness, customer communication, physician coordination, and local financial performance.

• Establish and monitor operational scorecards by market and facility.

• Direct the resolution of staffing shortages, scheduling failures, supply disruptions, equipment impacts, and service continuity risks.

• Develop contingency plans for business continuity and emergency operations.

• Own the entire Post-Acute divisional P&L, including gross profit, EBITDA, labor, travel, supplies, implementation costs, and operating expenses.

• Collaborate with Finance to develop the annual operating budget.

• Enhance productivity, utilization, reimbursement, cost control, and contribution margin.

• Participate in the development of pricing models and operational assumptions.

• Partner with Finance, Admissions & Billing, and Revenue Cycle to improve documentation, authorizations, claims support, denials, collections, and revenue integrity.

• Ensure adherence to CMS Conditions for Coverage, state requirements, HIPAA, accreditation standards, company policies, and contractual obligations.

• Oversee the operational implementation of quality and compliance requirements along with corrective action plans.

• Review quality trends and ensure timely responses to adverse events, infection risks, missed treatments, documentation failures, medication issues, and survey findings.

• Ensure readiness for surveys, required audits, and prompt closure of identified gaps.

• Oversee the implementation of new Post-Acute programs following contract execution until operations are stabilized.

• Ensure that site assessments, feasibility reviews, construction and equipment readiness, staffing, credentialing, training, physician coverage, supplies, technology, billing setup, and regulatory requirements are all completed prior to launch.

• Establish stabilization plans, census ramp plans, customer communication schedules, and post-launch performance reviews.

• Conduct post-implementation reviews to enhance future launches.

• Maintain executive operational relationships with Post-Acute customers after contract execution.

• Lead service recovery initiatives and address customer concerns.

• Conduct and enhance Quarterly Business Reviews.

• Identify expansion opportunities within existing health systems or customer relationships.

• Build relationships with nephrologists, Medical Directors, attending physicians, facility medical leadership, and the Chief Medical Officer.

• Resolve issues related to physician engagement, rounding, coverage, documentation, orders, communication, and accountability.

• Directly lead, coach, develop, hire, and evaluate Area Managers and support roles, fostering an accountable leadership culture.

• Participate in the hiring and interviewing process for manager-level roles, assessing onboarding and the initial 90 days.

• Collaborate with Market Development Managers on referrals and census.

• Work in partnership with Biomedical Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, Clinical Quality & Compliance, Contracting, Finance, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Clinical Education, Sales, and other divisions.

• Remain accountable for operational implementation, corrective action, verification, and sustained closure.

• Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, operations management, or a related field is required; equivalent executive healthcare operations experience may be considered.

• A Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Seven or more years of progressively responsible healthcare operations experience is necessary.

• Significant multi-site leadership experience with geographically dispersed teams is required.

• Proven success in building, scaling, or significantly enhancing a multi-state or multi-market healthcare operation.

• Experience in leading through managers, developing leaders, and creating sustainable operational systems.

• Ability to interpret quality, compliance, operational, customer, and financial data, translating findings into accountable action plans.

• Experience managing full P&L, budgeting, labor, productivity, and financial performance analysis and tracking.

• Proven track record in managing executive customer relationships, physician partnerships, clinical quality, regulatory risk, and cross-functional initiatives.

• Dialysis experience is preferred but not required.

• Experience in post-acute care, long-term care, home-based care, specialty clinical services, physician practices, hospitals, or other regulated healthcare operations is preferred.

• Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English.

• Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.

• Capable of quickly learning a variety of technical systems and equipment.

• Regular travel to operating markets, customer locations, physician meetings, implementations, and leadership meetings is expected, with 20–25% travel required.

• Must be able to respond to urgent operational, quality, customer, staffing, or physician issues outside normal business hours when executive intervention is necessary.

• Ability to stand, walk, twist, crouch, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods.

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, with some weekends based on travel and unit needs.
