This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Montana.
β’ Take charge of the legal function by establishing strategy, setting priorities, and defining standards.
β’ Build, oversee, and mentor the legal team, which includes hiring, distributing workloads, and fostering professional growth.
β’ Act as the key resource on data privacy and security legislation, encompassing policy development and incident management.
β’ Lead the negotiation of customer agreements, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), order forms, Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), and enterprise procurement documents.
β’ Provide guidance to Product and Engineering teams on intellectual property issues, covering IP ownership, licensing, open-source usage, and the protection of proprietary technology.
β’ Collaborate with Sales and Revenue Operations on contracting playbooks, standard terms, and approval processes.
β’ Manage relationships with outside counsel and oversee legal expenditures related to litigation, intellectual property, and specialized areas.
β’ Advise executive leadership on corporate governance, risk management, and compliance issues.
β’ Supervise employment law matters in partnership with People/HR, including policy reviews and workplace investigations.
β’ Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative changes impacting SaaS, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and relevant sectors.
β’ Oversee contract lifecycle management and legal operations tools.
β’ Work with Finance on overdue customer accounts, escalation protocols, and legal remedies.
β’ Establish and monitor Legal department KPIs while integrating AI-driven workflow automation.
β’ Support mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, and other strategic initiatives.
β’ Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar membership in good standing.
β’ A minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with significant in-house exposure at a B2B SaaS or technology company.
β’ Proven history of leading, mentoring, and developing in-house legal teams and expanding legal functions.
β’ Extensive knowledge of data privacy and security law, including firsthand experience in building privacy programs and adapting to regulatory changes.
β’ Strong record of negotiating and finalizing enterprise SaaS customer agreements, including MSAs, DPAs, and complex order forms.
β’ Solid understanding of intellectual property law as it pertains to software products, including licensing and open-source issues.
β’ Experience in advising executive teams on governance, risk, and compliance matters.
β’ Strong business acumen with the capacity to balance legal risks against commercial interests.
β’ Exceptional negotiation, communication, and cross-functional influence abilities.
β’ Demonstrated proficiency in developing and scaling legal processes and policies in a rapidly growing organization.
β’ Must reside in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
