This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the profitability and growth for all Workers’ Compensation programs.
• Implement both traditional and innovative underwriting techniques.
• Develop and refine underwriting strategies across designated lines and programs.
• Maintain a balance between growth, profitability, and risk management.
• Foster relationships with carriers, reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, distribution partners, and other essential stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Sales and Distribution to create strategies for profitable growth.
• Manage the books of business for assigned programs, achieving financial, business, customer, and performance goals.
• Supervise underwriting guidelines and processes in conjunction with the Chief Underwriting Officer.
• Track claims activity and recognize adverse development trends to adjust pricing and risk appetite.
• Lead and mentor teams focused on premium audits and program-specific underwriting.
• Advocate for process innovations to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Stay updated on industry tools, technologies, analytics, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to develop a scalable and efficient platform.
• Assess new product opportunities, coverage expansions, and program partnerships.
• Analyze portfolio performance and loss trends in collaboration with Actuarial, Insurance Programs & Risk Capital, and Finance teams.
• Suggest pricing or risk selection modifications alongside the National Underwriting Officer for Workers’ Compensation.
• Ensure adherence to state and carrier regulations.
• Conduct carrier and regulatory audits related to policy operations and underwriting guidelines.
• Provide an underwriting and operational perspective for company-wide strategic planning.
• Report directly to the President.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• In-depth expertise in Workers’ Compensation underwriting.
• Proven experience in balancing growth with profitability and risk management.
• Background in overseeing premium audit teams and program-specific underwriting teams.
• Familiarity with underwriting guidelines, processes, and regulatory standards.
• Experience in monitoring claims activity and identifying adverse development trends.
• Proficiency in program pricing and risk selection.
• Proven ability to cultivate relationships with carriers, reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, distribution partners, and other stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills to assess portfolio performance and loss trends.
• Knowledge of state and carrier regulations, as well as carrier/regulatory audits.
• Capacity to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Distribution, Product, Engineering, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, accountability, and operational excellence skills.
• Availability for full-time, salaried, exempt work during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some flexibility at the manager’s discretion.
