This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of Sparkfund’s comprehensive strategy, positioning, and engagement tactics for the electric cooperative market.
• Drive the pursuit of Distributed Capacity Procurement offerings across distribution and generation, as well as transmission electric cooperatives.
• Identify and prioritize valuable market opportunities and partnerships.
• Convert market developments, customer requirements, and industry dynamics into strategic adjustments.
• Cultivate and enhance executive-level relationships with cooperative executives, general managers, board members, industry associations, and key industry figures.
• Represent Sparkfund at conferences and industry gatherings.
• Establish and sustain relationships with NRECA and state and regional electric cooperative associations.
• Generate qualified opportunities within electric cooperatives and exhibit measurable influence on the pipeline.
• Collaborate with senior commercial leaders to define opportunities and shape account strategies.
• Assist in proposal development and negotiation, followed by transitioning day-to-day deal management during the final proposal and contracting phases.
• Coordinate with Growth, Programs, technical, and other cross-functional teams to transform opportunities into signed DCP programs.
• Maintain expert knowledge of the drivers affecting the electric cooperative market.
• Provide counsel to executive leadership on market trends, competitive dynamics, partnership prospects, and resource distribution.
• Represent Sparkfund externally at the executive level.
• Over 10 years of experience in business development, market development, strategic partnerships, or a related field within the utility, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven experience in owning and evolving a market, customer segment, or channel strategy from start to finish.
• An existing, active network of electric cooperative executives, general managers, board members, and/or other senior stakeholders.
• Capability to independently establish and evolve market strategies and represent the organization externally at the executive level.
• A working understanding of electric cooperative governance, member-owned structures, and cooperative purchasing and investment decision-making.
• Proficiency in influencing and coordinating efforts across teams without formal management authority.
• Willingness to travel frequently, approximately 40% or more.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Preferred: experience with utility-scale battery storage, generation, distributed capacity, or other grid infrastructure solutions.
• Preferred: familiarity with generation, transmission, and distribution electric cooperative dynamics.
• Preferred: established relationships with NRECA and/or state and regional electric cooperative association leadership.
• Preferred: experience in driving cross-functional strategy and execution across commercial, program, technical, and operational teams.
