Veterinary Academy Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver academic assistance to students via phone calls, LibCal appointments, email, and case/ticket systems.

• Create comprehensive, course-specific webinars tailored to course content.

• Evaluate and enhance webinars for clarity, precision, and relevance.

• Conduct live weekly webinars and address learner inquiries through webinar chat.

• Take ownership of assigned courses within the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program.

• Oversee curriculum updates, course revisions, course reviews, and quality assurance initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product Design teams on course modifications under the guidance of the Program Director.

• Assess written exams and provide feedback on subjective assessments and projects.

• Review Penn Foster student skill submissions for externship requirements as necessary.

• Serve as backup faculty support for Ashworth student externship skill submissions.

• Assist Ashworth Veterinary Academy students through emails, tickets, and LibCal phone consultations.

• Take ownership of assigned courses within the Ashworth Veterinary Technician program.

• Review written exams and provide feedback for assigned Ashworth courses.

• Offer recommendations for instructional and program enhancements based on course feedback, student outcomes, and professional insights.

• Support efforts to minimize attrition and enhance student progression.

• Work with academic leadership and instructional design partners on innovative instructional delivery methods.

• Assist with and oversee social media activities as needed.

• Attend and engage actively in departmental meetings.

• Aid in onboarding and training new instructors.

• Complete necessary professional development and training.

• Maintain active status for required professional licenses and credentials.

• Participate in accreditation-related activities.

• Provide backup coverage for instructional, externship evaluation, and site approval as needed.

• Carry out additional instructional and student support responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician who has graduated from an AVMA-accredited program.

• At least three years of clinical experience.

• Current license in good standing with the relevant state licensing board.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage supportively with students, alumni, team members, and employers.

• Quick thinking with effective and efficient communication skills.

• Excellent presentation abilities, capable of conveying ideas clearly to individuals or groups.

• Outstanding time-management skills.

• Proficient computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and learning management systems.

• Strong understanding of how technology can be utilized for new instructional methods.

• Sound judgment in initiating actions and making decisions within established guidelines or well-defined policies, with direction and review from the Veterinary Academy Director.

• Ability to foster a supportive and collaborative team culture.

• Knowledge of and ability to facilitate learning related to veterinary technology course content.

• All employees must reside and perform work within the United States.

• Must be willing and able to travel as needed.

• Must fulfill applicable pre-employment screening requirements.

• Must complete employment eligibility verification via Form I-9.

• Preferred: Previous teaching experience in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program.

• Preferred: Experience with CVTEA requirements.
