Veterans' Program Peer Support Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.

📋 Description

• Facilitate opportunities for both individual and group connections for Veterans eligible for the Fox program.

• Lead Veteran Peer groups utilizing peer support curricula and established norms.

• Assist Veterans in discovering mutual support organizations, social resources, and community activities.

• Address self-stigma and promote the sharing of recovery messages.

• Foster empowerment and self-determination among participants.

• Practice, guide others, and uphold adherence to Peer Support values.

• Engage in both internal and external training sessions.

• Provide and finalize Mental Health Advanced Directives as appropriate.

• Collaborate with the Fox team to deliver crisis support.

• Attend Fox team meetings, case reviews, and other mandatory gatherings.

• Ensure accurate documentation for clients.

• Participate in supervision and seek advice on client-related issues and ethical challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a veteran of the United States Armed Forces.

• Must have personal experience with a mental illness diagnosis, be in recovery, and be willing to self-identify with fellow Veterans in the Fox program.

• Must possess or be in the process of obtaining the Maine CIPSS credential within nine months.

• Maintain CIPSS certification and adhere to the Maine CIPSS Code of Ethics.

• Ensure the protection and confidentiality of client records and information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and relevant guidelines.

• Provide services that align with trauma-informed practices.

• Engage in necessary supervision, training, team meetings, case reviews, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

• Keep accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies and applicable laws, regulations, and agreements.
