This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
β’ Develop, validate, and monitor optical cross connect (XC) requests until completion, which includes handling LOA/CFA documentation and following up on vendor tickets.
β’ Execute patch panel port assignments and ensure accurate maintenance of panel/port inventory records within Meta's systems of record.
β’ Anticipate future cross connect and patch panel capacity requirements based on project timelines; proactively identify any potential shortfalls.
β’ Conduct audits and rectify data inconsistencies between design intentions, documented records, and actual field conditions.
β’ Manage vendor and colocation provider responsibilities: place orders, monitor SLAs, escalate any delays, and confirm completion evidence.
β’ Assist field resources during installations and turn-ups by providing port assignments, cable schedules, and troubleshooting documentation.
β’ Collaborate with NWI and ENS FTEs on scope assessments, readiness evaluations, and deployment transfers.
β’ Work alongside other MSP engineers to distribute workload, uphold consistent processes, and address queues efficiently.
β’ Contribute to runbooks, process documentation, and minor workflow enhancements that minimize manual tasks.
β’ 0β2 years of experience in data center, optical/fiber, or network deployment operations (internships and technical coursework included).
β’ Practical understanding of fiber optic infrastructure: single-mode vs multimode, connector types (LC/MPO), patch panels, structured cabling, and cross connects.
β’ Capability to read and comprehend cable schedules, rack elevations, and port maps.
β’ Keen attention to detail when handling inventory and records; comfortable utilizing ticketing and tracking systems.
β’ Effective written and verbal communication with vendors, field technicians, and engineering collaborators.
β’ Ability to manage multiple concurrent requests against deadlines with minimal supervision.
β’ Preferred: Experience in colocation facilities or familiarity with colo/carrier provisioning processes.
β’ Preferred: Knowledge of DCIM, IPAM, or network inventory platforms.
β’ Preferred: Basic scripting or spreadsheet automation skills (Python, SQL, Sheets/Excel formulas) for reporting and data cleanup.
β’ Preferred: Exposure to optical transport concepts, including DWDM, transceivers, optical budgets, and light level testing.
β’ Preferred: Previous experience in an MSP or vendor-partner model supporting a large enterprise client.
