This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Design, implement, maintain, and enhance enterprise network infrastructure along with network security platforms.
• Oversee network engineering projects from initial planning and design through to implementation, documentation, testing, and operational support.
• Create and sustain enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, data center, and cloud-connected network architectures.
• Establish and uphold network and network security standards, reference architectures, implementation practices, and engineering best practices.
• Design, execute, review, and maintain firewall policies, ACLs, segmentation, VPN access, NAT, secure management access, zero trust-aligned controls, and access control frameworks.
• Act as an escalation resource for intricate issues related to routing, switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, DNS, DHCP, WAN, cloud connectivity, performance, availability, and policy.
• Conduct firewall rule reviews, network access evaluations, security policy cleanups, and aid in vulnerability remediation.
• Generate and maintain network and security documentation, diagrams, standards, configurations, procedures, support records, implementation plans, and firewall rule documentation.
• Resolve assigned network and security operations tickets in accordance with service levels, escalation procedures, and change management practices.
• Propel network growth initiatives, capacity planning, infrastructure refresh projects, technology standardization, and security platform modernization.
• Lead and collaborate with vendors, service providers, contractors, security teams, and internal stakeholders on network projects, site deployments, migrations, cutovers, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Travel to Evansville, IN for team meetings and collaboration events approximately twice a year.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, or a minimum of 4+ years of related experience in network engineering and network security.
• Extensive experience with NGFW firewalls such as Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, or FortiGate, including firewall policy management, NAT, VPN, logging, troubleshooting, rule review, and problem resolution.
• Familiarity with enterprise networking technologies and management platforms like Arista, Juniper, Cisco Nexus, Cisco ISE, Cisco ACI, NDFC, or similar solutions is preferred.
• Experience in designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale network infrastructure within medium-to-large multi-site business environments.
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, spanning tree, wireless, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, NAT, QoS, and high availability concepts.
• Understanding of network security principles including segmentation, ACLs, least privilege access, secure remote access, zero trust principles, logging, monitoring, and incident response support.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9000 switching platforms and enterprise wireless solutions such as Cisco Catalyst Wireless or Meraki is preferred.
• Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, or EIGRP, including route filtering, redistribution, and troubleshooting is preferred.
• Knowledge of SD-WAN, VPN technologies, WAN provider coordination, and remote-site connectivity is preferred.
• Experience in configuring, deploying, and maintaining Cisco network devices in enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, security, and data center environments.
• Understanding of cloud networking and hybrid network connectivity, including AWS or Azure and related security controls.
• Familiarity with network monitoring, firewall logging, NetFlow, SNMP, Syslog, packet analysis, and performance troubleshooting tools is preferred.
• Ability to independently manage complex network engineering projects and troubleshoot advanced technical issues with minimal supervision.
• Capability to clearly communicate technical and security matters to peers, leadership, vendors, contractors, and non-technical counterparts.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to document technical designs, changes, security decisions, and operational procedures.
• Skill in managing multiple priorities, projects, operational issues, and security-related requests.
• Willingness to work collaboratively and independently.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Participation in an on-call rotation outside of normal business hours is required.
• Industry-recognized certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCNA, Cisco Security, Palo Alto, Fortinet, AWS Networking, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent are preferred.
