This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Assume accountability for the analysis, definition, and ongoing development of Zayo's comprehensive Layer 2 and Layer 3 architecture.
β’ Collaborate with team members and departments to create scalable network designs, solutions, and policy recommendations.
β’ Evaluate and drive critical platform decisions and directions; offer guidance to network planning and operations teams.
β’ Assist internal product teams by identifying and conveying network-impacting requirements to service activation and network operations groups.
β’ Lead and support the development of Zayo's expanding network infrastructure through well-documented architecture design documents.
β’ Provide technical direction for NCC support teams.
β’ Conduct thorough lab testing of new architectures, platforms, and inter-networking software.
β’ Advocate for the development of Zayo's Enterprise Networks product.
β’ Engage in discussions at standards development organizations such as NANOG, MEF, IETF, and other conferences.
β’ Design, implement, and document new technologies; deliver top-tier troubleshooting and customer support.
β’ Direct network architecture, Ethernet and IP product design standards and enhancements, production network issues and escalations, along with vendor relationships.
β’ Profound operational knowledge and experience with carrier-class routers, switches, and packet-optical platforms, including Juniper, Cisco, Nokia-ALU, Infinera, and Ciena/Cyan.
β’ Capability to represent Zayo at Standards Development Organizations such as MEF, IEEE, ITU, IETF, ISO, etc.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of Ethernet, QOS, MPLS/RSVP-TE, L2Circuit/VLL, VPLS-BGP/LDP, L3VPN, G.8032v2, E-OAM, Y.1731, IS-IS, OSPF, MP-BGP, and SNMP protocols.
β’ Proficient in constructing Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks for both metro and long-haul applications.
β’ Experience in modeling financial implications of decisions.
β’ Strong negotiation skills with vendors.
β’ Proficiency in Perl/Python scripting, automation, NETCONF/YANG, and EMS/NMS.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to persuade others with engineering solutions.
β’ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
β’ Minimum of six (6) years of experience in engineering, architecture, or design of an ISP network.
β’ Experience in βzero downtimeβ environments is essential.
